Kidney Plus, Acrylic on 36" x 36" stretched canvas

This big canvas wanted to be something bold and interesting. I think it is.

At first, I thought this piece was about death, but now I see that it's another male/female, together/apart piece, like Planes? Rockets?. Male imagery = big green arm on the left; Female imagery = red torso profile on the right. It also includes the popular kidney shapes, which were meant to its core feature. I love the acid green color. I added the plus sign to the red kidney because it seemed to need it. In my mind, it was meant to convey a 'Red Cross' idea. Hmm, maybe it's a medical painting? Maybe the title should have been Kidney Cross, but when I hear that, I picture a landscape painting.

I've decided that it's OK for me to point out what I see in the work. You may see it differently.

This might qualify as a multimedia piece -- I brushed a sandy, plaster material on the canvas while priming it, for added texture. There's also some house paint on here -- a gold Ralph Lauren faux-finish. Both items were just kicking around in the basement.

Lastly, this is neither a painting about The Bean in Chicago's Millennium Park, nor is the Red kidney 'humping' the Blue kidney. But if you did happen to think that, then maybe it's a political painting?
