Anyway, I occasionally browse Craigslist's artist community and found these, which I like:

Liz Tuckwell

I'm not always into abstract stuff, but her work is fun and glowing. Rothko fans may like horizonlines. I think I like the fall best.

James Thorpe

He paints portraits of people and pets, but I'm attracted to his still-life work. I like Portrait of an artist as a young gardner and The Crapo family portrait (winged potatos!), for starters.

This painting recalls the Indian Runner ducks we had as kids. They would chase you if you turned your back to them. It's pretty funny when a duck thinks he's tough.

I tried to capture the feeling of pursuit. I experimented a bit with throwing paint along the wing. He still needs legs and a little tuning of his head so he doesn't look so much like a sea gull. Maybe tomorrow...
